Product Description

Arimidex is an antitumor product which blocks synthesis of estrogen. It contains the active ingredient Anastrozole.

Arimidex is a very strong and highly selective inhibitor of aromatase. This medicine is not a steroid medicine and does not have characteristics of the anabolic steroids. The basic task of Arimidex is to lower the level of estrogens and stop the progress of tumors stimulated by the female sexual hormones.

Anastrozole blocks the work of aromatase enzyme which increases the production of estradiol in women during postmenopause. The reduction of the concentration of circulated estradiol in the body provides a therapeutic action to the hormone-dependent tumor and restores a natural biological hormone balance.

It is clinically proved that the use of Arimidex helps to lower the level of estradiol in the body by 80% within several months, however the treatment should last for a long period to maintain the therapeutic effect.

The therapeutic effect depends on the daily dose of Arimidex, and therefore the intensity of the antiestrogenic action can be regulated during the treatment by increasing or lowering the daily dose. Using Arimidex in the standard therapeutic doses, the level of cortisol is not reduced.

Directions for the use

Arimidex is indicated for women to treat early and spread malignant tumor of the breast, during post menopause. This medicine can be used as the basic medical therapy and after the use of Tamoxifene.

Arimidex helps to lower the process of aromatization in men during the use of the anabolic steroids and prevent the appearance of gynecomastia.

Usage and dosage of Arimidex

Arimidex is prescribed adult patients including senior people, 1 mg once per day, orally. The tablets should be used in the morning regardless of the meals with a full glass of water. Patients with light and mild dysfunctions of kidneys and also light dysfunctions of liver do not need the adjustment of Arimidex dose.

If the therapy of Arimidex does not give results and the tumor is progressing, the treatment is stopped.

In case of severe tumor diseases, it is recommended to have 2-3-year-therapy with Tamoxifene, and then Arimidex is used. It will help to affect the receptors of estrogen and completely neutralize a negative action of hormones to the tumor tissue. Arimidex is used for not more than 5 years.
