Ultram is a brand name of an active ingredient Tramadol. This is an opioid analgesic with a mild action which helps to stop pain during chronic diseases, traumas, and other physiological pathologies.
This is one of the safest opioid analgesics which proves a strong pain-relieving effect. Ultram poorly binds to the opioid receptors than other opiates, and therefore the correct doses do not cause a medical addiction.
The mechanism of the action consists in slowing down of the pain impulses which go through the central nervous system. Ultram acts in the spinal cord and binds to specific opioid receptors. The main advantage of Ultram consists in the fast onset of the analgesic action. After the use of the single dose, the therapeutic effect appears in 15 minutes, and the maximal pain relief happens in 20-30 minutes. Even during severe painful syndrome of the neurological or traumatic origin, Ultram provides a stable pain-relieving action. It does not cause an affection of the mucous membrane of the gastro-intestinal tract, and therefore it can be used even by patients with erosions of GIT.

Instructions for the use
Ultram is released in the pills which can contain 50 mg, 100 mg or 200 mg of Tramadol hydrochloride. Depending on the severity of the painful syndrome, a patient is prescribed an individual dose.
The treatment always begins with a minimal single dose of Ultram 50 mg. If one pill is not enough, the single dose can be increased up to 100 mg. The increase of the dose is possible in at least 8 hours after the previous use of Ultram.
The pills are taken entirely, without chewing, and with a glass of water, or a pill is dissolved in ½ glass of water, regardless of meals.
Ultram in the dose of 400 mg can be used only in medical conditions, under the doctor’s supervision. At home, exceeding the recommended daily dose can cause side effects. In the setting of the overdose, the symptoms of the medical addiction, respiratory distress, apnea, and vomiting can happen.
If the overdose symptoms appear, it is necessary to have a stomach lavage and see a doctor as soon as possible.
Side effects of Ultram
Using Ultram can cause light side effects in the central nervous system: dizziness, high fatigue, retardation, anxiety, light spasms in extremities.
The side effects caused by the pharmacological action of Tramadol usually pass within several days after the use of the pills. If they do not pass, consult a doctor.
