Ventolin is used for obstructive pulmonary diseases to arrest acute bronchospasms. It contains active ingredient Salbutamol.
Salbutamol dilates bronchia and provides anti-inflammatory action. A single use of Ventolin improves the blood circulation of oxygen thought the airway system, dilates lumen of the airway tracts, and reduce the body reaction to the action of allergens.
Ventolin is a classical beta-2-adrenoreceptor which provides a fast effect and inhibits the action of the biologically active ingredients taking part in the bronchospasm. This medicine does not work for the background therapy of the bronchial asthma because it shows a short effect. The single use of Ventolin improves a respiratory function within 4-5 hours.
Therapeutic effects is developed within 5-10 minutes. After the beginning of the action of Salbutamol, the inhibition of the histamine receptors occurs which cause the inflammatory reaction and narrowing of the respiratory lumen.
Ventolin selectively blocks beta-2-adrenoreceptros and does not influence on the work of the cardiovascular system and does not increase the blood pressure in the therapeutic doses.
Directions for the use
Ventolin is indicated to arrest acute bronchospasms during the effect of the allergen, or physical activity, and chronic pathologies of the pulmonary functions:
In what dose is Ventolin taken?
Ventolin is released in the form of white or almost white suspension in the bottle under the pressure. The medicine is diffused from the bottle and reaches the mucosa of the airway tracts.
Two inhalations of Ventolin are used not more than 4 times per day (every 6 hours) as an additional product to the background therapy of the bronchial asthma or bronchitis.
If a patient feels that 4 times of Ventolin are not enough, it means that a disease is progressing. In this case, it is necessary to see a doctor and replace Ventolin by another bronchodilating product.
Do not use Ventolin more than 4 times per day because it can increase the concentration of Salbutamol in the body and cause side effects in the airway system, cardiovascular and central nervous systems.
Rules for the use of Ventolin inhaler:
Patients with severe diseases of the cardiovascular system should consult a doctor before taking Ventolin. The doctor may prescribe an individual dosage regimen, or offer another medicine.
Women during pregnancy and lactation, and also children under 5 years are contraidnciated to take Ventolin.
